Why I Believe Home Is More Than Four Walls

When people ask what I do, the easy answer is that I'm a Realtor.
But the truth is, I don't believe I'm just helping people buy and sell houses. I believe I'm helping people find a place to call home.
To me, a home is so much more than four walls and a roof.
It's where little feet come running down the hallway first thing in the morning. It's where tired parents finally get to sit down after a long day. It's where holiday traditions begin, birthday candles are blown out, and life happens in all of its beautiful, imperfect chaos.
Home isn't something you can always see in a listing photo.
It's a feeling.
It's the smell of fresh coffee brewing before everyone else wakes up. It's homemade cookies cooling on the counter. It's fresh bread baking in the oven, cozy blankets on the couch, and candles flickering on a rainy Oregon Coast evening.
It's the garden you've spent all spring tending.

The chickens waiting to be fed.
Watching your kids race through the backyard until the sun goes down.

Sitting on the front porch with your favorite drink after a long day, taking a deep breath and realizing this is exactly where you're meant to be.
Some of my favorite moments don't happen because my house is spotless or perfectly decorated.
In fact, they're usually the opposite.
The dishes are still in the sink.
The kitchen is messy.
Someone forgot to put their shoes away.
The dogs are barking.
The kids are laughing...
...and occasionally arguing.
But that's life.
And somehow those ordinary moments become the memories we treasure the most.
I think we live in a world that constantly tells us to chase the next thing.
A bigger house.
A nicer kitchen.
A better backyard.
More square footage.
More.
But somewhere along the way, we forget to slow down and appreciate what home already gives us.
Comfort.
Safety.
Belonging.
Connection.
A place where we can simply be ourselves.
That's one of the reasons I love helping people buy homes.
I'm not just unlocking front doors.
I'm helping families find the place where they'll celebrate birthdays, decorate Christmas trees, plant gardens, teach their kids to ride bikes, host backyard barbecues, and create thousands of ordinary moments they'll someday realize were extraordinary.
Over the coming months, I'd love to share some of the little things that make our house feel like home, from favorite recipes and cozy traditions to simple activities that bring our family together.
Because home isn't about perfection.
It's about creating a place filled with love, laughter, and memories.
And if you're still searching for the place where you'll build those memories, I'd love to help you find it.
Because finding a house is one thing.
Finding a place that truly feels like home is something entirely different.
